Like Dee, I discovered Mel on a once poplular gig site. She was eager to shoot and easy to work with. The one assurance she wanted from me is that I would not backpeddle on just wanting to shoot classy nudes and asker her to shoot something pornographic. As I mentioned in my first blog post, I believe many black women who want to put sensuality on display would love to participate in these kinds of shoots, as long as they’re treated with respect and not pressured to do anything outside of their comfort levels. As the photographer for Uzuri-Unveiled, it’s important for me to honor that commitment.
